Thursday the First of January 2009, 12:01AMThe New Year is here. 2009. Time flies, does it not?
For the first time ever, I have decided that I will write a list of resolutions for this year. I plan to keep to them, too. On the 31st of December, I will write a blog that will--hopefully--confirm I have done everything. Let's see how long this tradition lasts.
I am not sure of the correct way to do this, so I have devised a cunning plan. (Yeah, that was a line stolen and adapted from the movie Madagascar.) I decided to make resolutions about a month ago, and so I have had a few in my mind for a while, many in different areas. So I have decided that my list will consist of 10 resolutions: 3 general ones; 3 writing-related ones; and of course I must have 3 random ones; then one ultimate resolution. The ultimate resolution will be one to which there is no endgame, there is no possible way to "reach" the goal, only work on it. It will be the main thing I work on throughout the year, something I hope to improve on as much as possible.
Here they are...
My 2009 New Year ResolutionsGeneral-Get a job
-Start playing a sport again and keep fit during the off-season
-Spend less time on the computer everyday
Writing-Plan, write, edit, rewrite, edit & edit one short story per month
-Complete the first draft of at least one WIP
-Vary the genres of my short stories, so as to stretch and improve my writing skills
Random-Solve a Rubiks Cube
-Complete a wasgij puzzle
-[nothing yet]
Ultimate Resolution:Become a better person than I am now, by being more of a friend and being "there" for my friends when they need me, changing my attitude towards others and life in general, being more patient with people, friends and most of all family, and reaching out to those who need a hand, friend, shoulder, or whatever it is they need, or finding someone who can give that. Also spend more time with God, and have a deeper relationship with him.
